The Chapter Zero UAE sees the next years as critical in our response to the global challenge posed by climate change. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report 2021 signals a ‘code red’ for humanity and emissions globally need to be halved by 2030 to ensure the average temperature rise does not exceed 1.5 degrees by 2050.
The UAE met our historic challenge on 13 December 2023 by delivering, together with the participants of COP28, the UAE Consensus which has, at its heart, the first Global Stocktake (GST), setting out the ambitious actions needed to keep 1.5°C within reach.
Chapter Zero UAE is a local Chapter of the Climate Governance Initiative, which is composed of a growing global network with Chapters in over 70 countries worldwide. The Climate Governance Initiative empowers board directors on every continent to take climate action by enhancing their knowledge and skills in climate governance.
The mission of Chapter Zero UAE is to support board directors in acquiring sufficient knowledge and insights on climate change and the challenges it poses to companies, so that they are better equipped to guide management and provide necessary oversight to them.
Join us and express an interest in membership of Chapter Zero UAE.
